Fog Light Blaze Forward With Fifth Album ‘Abstract’

Fog Light – Abstract (Inverse Records, 2025)

Finnish instrumental jazz-rock trio Fog Light recently released its fifth full-length album, Abstract, in 2025.

Formed in 2016, Fog Light combines rock, jazz fusion and 70s progressive rock influences, drawing inspiration from artists such as Eric Johnson, Yes, Rush, King Crimson, Allan Holdsworth, Tony MacAlpine and Tony Williams. The group emphasizes experimentation within clear song structures, keeping improvisation tightly focused. This is inventive, dazzling, and fiercely electric fusion with stellar guitar solos and ensemble interplay.

Abstract expands the trio’s palette with keyboards and synth-axe, adding new elements to the band. Each instrument receives solo space throughout the album’s eight fusion-rock tracks, while the band prepares material for upcoming live performances.

Fog Light includes Saku Hakuli (guitar), Pasi Hakuli (bass) and Jarmo Pikka (drums), with Antti Huopainen on keyboards.

Mixing and mastering by Markku Pihlaja.
