Oreglo Put A Spin On Jazz On The Whirr

The project includes the previously released tracks “Bosté” and “The Whirr.” The Whirr, an EP, combines fantastic Snarky Puppy-style contemporary jazz-funk and jazz-rock, with masterfully-crafted orchestral arrangements, dazzling interplay and awe-inspiring melodic work. Towards the end of the EP, oreglo adds less-appealing abrasive rock passages.

Oreglo is made up of Nico on drums, Teigan Hastings on tuba, and Linus Barry on electric guitar. The British group met in secondary school and through the Tomorrow’s Warriors youth organization, then began building early attention online through “shed” TikTok videos.

In 2025, the band expanded its live profile with appearances at SXSW and The Great Escape, along with summer festival sets including Green Man, Dot to Dot, and Meltdown. Oreglo also toured with Gilles Peterson, Geordie Greep, and other artists during the year.

The trio released their debut EP, Not Real People, via Brownswood Recordings in late 2024, and have since been highlighted as a rising act by outlets including NME and Vogue, as well as broadcaster Zane Lowe.
