The cover presents a sepia-toned photograph of a grand concert hall viewed from the back of the audience. A sweeping, arched ceiling frames the stage below, where beams of light illuminate the band in the distance. In the foreground, a silhouetted figure raises an arm toward the stage. At the top, uppercase lettering reads “Long Distance Calling,” with “live at lichtburg” in smaller type beneath it.

Post-Rock Meets Jazz Energy: Long Distance Calling Reveals ‘Live At Lichtburg’

Long Distance Calling – Live At Lichtburg (earMUSIC, 2026)

Progressive post-rock band Long Distance Calling have released the live album Live At Lichtburg. The recording documents their sold-out February 2024 performance at the historic Lichtburg cinema in Essen, Germany. More than 1,200 fans attended the concert, which is now presented in full.

The band rolled out two live performance videos, “Kamilah” and “Out There,” as an introduction to the album. The footage highlights dynamic shifts that will feel familiar to jazz listeners: extended builds, improvisatory explorations, and skilled movement between finely crafted quiet passages and a barrage of distorted guitars.

The material contains songs from the group’s catalog, with emphasis on the albums Eraser (2022) and Avoid The Light (2009). Live At Lichtburg features new arrangements and orchestral colors as a gateway release for fans of instrumental rock, jazz-influenced experimentation, and post rock.

Musicians: David Jordan on guitars; Florian Füntmann on guitars; Jan Hoffmann on bass; Janosch Rathmer on drums; and Reimut van Bonn on electronics and sounds.
