Advent Horizon will release its new album, Falling Together, on May 15, 2026. The U.S. progressive rock band has also unveiled the lead single, “Past Life Parable,” alongside a performance video.
According to vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Rylee McDonald, Falling Together examines inherited belief systems and questions whether those convictions truly belong to the individual. In a statement, McDonald said the record reflects a decade of revisiting personal beliefs and considering how divisions tied to religion, politics, and class continue to sustain an “us vs. them” mindset.
McDonald said about the single: “Stylistically, ‘Past Life Parable’ is a sort of bridge between our older music and the new direction that I’ve been wanting for some time to take this band in. It’s heavy at times, but it’s also a melody-driven rock song with an overall uplifting tone. The harmonized guitar/synth solo at the end is something I’m particularly proud of, and can’t wait to recreate live.”
Meanwhile, parts of the album date back to the writing sessions for A Cell to Call Home. Some songs, including “In a Lone and Dreary World,” grew too expansive for that release, so the band held them back and built a separate project around the same creative foundation. By the time the previous album arrived, about a third of Falling Together had already taken form.
The writing process unfolded in two phases. One half of the material came together between 2018 and 2021. The other half followed in summer 2024, when McDonald and drummer Mike Lofgreen wrote on Mondays near a remote mountain lake in northern Utah.
The recording took place between January and May 2025 at Cold House Studios in Provo, Utah. The band co-produced the album with engineer and mixer Zach Boorman. Jens Bogren handled mastering, while Travis Smith created the artwork.
The group’s previous release was A Cell to Call Home (2023).
Musicians: Rylee McDonald on vocals, guitars, and keyboards; Mike Lofgreen on drums and percussion; Cason Wood on bass, keyboards, and trombone; and Grant Matheson on guitar, keyboards, and vocals.
