Hadal Sherpa — Memoria (self-release, 2025)
Memoria is the third album by Hadal Sherpa, a Finnish instrumental psychedelic progressive rock band from Vantaa, Finland. Hadal Sherpa weaves an alluring mix of various progressive rock influences, ranging from the progressive side of psychedelic rock inspired by Pink Floyd and Ozric Tentacles to symphonic rock that has connections to the sounds of Camel and Agusa.
The band’s sound revolves around the inventive, intricate and multifaceted electric guitar work of the late composer Vesa Pasanen, the enchanting flute melodies of Pi Viana, wordless vocal harmonies and spellbinding electronic music environments.
Memoria was recorded during the 2021–2025 sessions at Hadal Sherpa’s habitual rehearsal place and home studios. Mixing and mastering was done in the spring of 2025. After the unexpected death of Vesa in July, the final editing for the album was carried out with the band’s friend Max in the fall.
