In my constant search for new bands and music, every once and a while you find something unique and interesting. That is what happened with Venus 5. Their debut album was released in 06/10/2022, on Frontiers Music Srl.
Venus 5 is an all-female metal band made up of vocalists from around the world. The band is composed of five amazing singers hailing from different European territories. In alphabetical order, they are: Karmen Klinc, Jelena Milovanovic, Tezzi Persson, Erina Seitllari, and Herma Sick. The band was assembled from an idea created by Serafino Perugino, Frontiers’ President and Head of A&R.
However, it was a team effort by producer Aldo Lonobile, (Secret Sphere, Timo Tolkki’s Avalon, Sweet Oblivion, etc.), and his team of writers, including Jake E. (Cyrha, ex-Amaranthe), who co-produced the vocals; Stefan Helleblad, (Within Temptation), who also plays guitars on the album; and Per Aldeheim, (Def Leppard, H.E.A.T, Stanfour, etc.), who have all helped create this endearing concept.
The rest of the music was played by Stefan Helleblad, Aldo Lonobile, and Gabriele Robotti, on lead electric guitar; Dann Arisi, plays bass; Alfonso Mocerino, plays drums; and Antonio Agate, plays keyboards, piano and organized and created all the electro arrangements.
Every track on this album is worth its weight in gold. This is a great debut for this new band. I enjoyed the album for its wealth of talent both vocally and musically. Great pop-oriented songs interpretated with a metal edge, vibe and vocals.
My favorite tracks were by far: “Lioness”, which is the perfect opening track for a female-lead band. They do come at you fast, and in control like a lioness. The electric guitar, bass and drums roar like a lioness, before the lady’s sing the refrain, “I become an animal. I am a lioness. I’m gonna take what is mine. Your gonna hear me roar. And I’ll be drawing the line”. Maybe the best song on the album. Power full of, the queen of the jungle’s claws.
“The Simulation”, has what I would like to think are some anti-Trump lines, which I enjoyed. “Let the Madman rule. Let the woman lose. Let’s normalize and hit the snooze”. No, these ladies are not on board with it. And they make sure you know it before the song ends. The song is full of nice deep bass sounds. They sing about today’s world, “When the fake fight facts it’s getting scarier. It has become so weird; it just can’t be for real”.
“Nothing But a Heartache”, is a great break-up ballad. The ladies sing “It’s Nothing but a heartache. I rather live my life with someone new. I’m over you!” Slower pace with an epic sound.
“Bride With Blackened Eyes”, is full of metal power at its opening. Full gun drums, electric guitar, bass and backing symphonic orchestrations. The lyrics and female ‘choirs’ are awesome. They sing, “Selfishness so shallow. Your time is running out. Your life’s a broken arrow. Your target missed. I’m a bride with blackened eyes. I believe in myself and I need no one else to stay alive. I will go with the flow where my flower can grow, I will survive”. Excellent.
“Monster Under Your Bed”, is another excellent metal, well…monster. Great electric guitar soloing and powerful drum work. The lyrics are powerful and these ladies sing it with feeling, “Like an eagle. Watching from far away. Like a dream you’ll never forget. Like a book that’s never been read. I am the monster under your bed!”
“Inside”, “Tamal”, “Because Of You”, and “Save You”, are great rockers. Full of cool keyboards, metal guitars and power drums. Nice deep bass and excellent rock ballads.
“We Are Dynamite”, is another great showcase song for the band. They sing, “Born to be admired. Pretty little liars. Hold your fire. Taste our dynamite. Love me and you’re hired. Fence me I’m the wire. Fame aspire. We are dynamite!”
“Bury Me”, is a deep and fantastic closer for the band. Full of the album’s best keyboard work and effects. The drums are amazing! The guitar work extraordinary. A great way to leave the listener wanting more. I’ll be back!
This is a fantastic debut for this band. I’m in for the sophomore album. Enjoy the multiple vocalists and the spectacular metal music. Get this one!
