Haavard – Haavard (Haavard Prophecy Productions / Auerbach Tonträger, 2022)
Haavard, the project developed by guitarist and composer Håvard Jørgensen, has a new self-titled album, “Haavard.” The artist says: “This album has been a long time coming. I have had these songs in me for what seems like an eon, by now. It is hard to find words to describe accurately just how much it means to me to finally get this music out and into the world. As a personal recommendation, I’d like to suggest for you to put on a good pair of headphones and let this album be your soundtrack the next time that you hike or walk in nature.”
Although Håvard Jørgensen has extensive background in Norwegian black metal bands, this beautiful project takes the multi-instrumentalist into the world of Norwegian folk rooted music highlighting pleasurable acoustic guitars combined with chamber strings, Mellotron, cinematic arrangements and various types of percussion.
Lineup: Håvard Jørgensen on guitars, various synth sounds. Guest musicians: Kristoffer “Garm” Rygg on vocals on ‘Mot Soleglad’; Torgeir Waldemar and Kristoffer Rygg on backing vocals on ‘Eastwood’; Anders Møller on acoustic percussion; Tore Ylwizaker on keyboards, Mellotron; Lars Nygaard on accordion on ‘Emmanuelle’; Kristine Marie Aasvang on flute on ‘Oberon’, ‘Snøhetta’, ‘Athena’; Ole-Henrik Moe on violin, viola on ‘Heartwood’, ‘Snøhetta’, ‘Eastwood’, ‘Sørgemarsj’; Evan Runge on violin on ‘Printemps’, ‘Oberon’, ‘Emmanuelle’, ‘Niende Mars’, ‘Myrull’, ‘Athena’; Raphael Weinroth-Browne on cello on ‘Printemps’, ‘Oberon’, ‘Emmanuelle’, ‘Niende Mars’, ‘Myrull’, ‘Athena.’
