The cover of the single by M'Z, titled "Désert d'Arcade," features a minimalist and surreal aesthetic. On the left, a man in black, holding a white electric guitar, stands against a backdrop of draped white fabric. To the right, a mannequin-like figure dressed in flowing white robes with black accents wears a mask resembling a deer head.

M’Z’s “Désert d’arcade”: A Fusion of Musical Styles and Philosophical Concepts

M’Z, a project helmed by guitarist and composer Mathieu Torres, has unveiled “Désert d’arcade“, a reimagined version of a track originally performed with the band Adelphya. This release marks the beginning of an innovative approach: instead of traditional album launches, M’Z will release one track each month, each connected to a unique artistic project.

The debut track is accompanied by a performance video filmed at La Barraque in Mirepoix (09), highlighting the project’s commitment to intimate, creative spaces.

M’Z thrives on a wide range of musical influences, spanning genres such as Canterbury, progressive rock, rock in opposition, metal, electronica, space rock, noise, jazz, ambient, drum and bass, and beyond. This diversity stems from Torres’s extensive involvement in numerous artistic ventures, including The Diogenes, Matziz, La Théorie des Cordes, and Urban BallShit, among others.

The project, created in late 2017, is driven by a profound need for artistic expression. M’Z seeks to bridge poetic and philosophical ideas with emotional and musical narratives, rejecting aesthetic boundaries or moralistic limitations.
