Steve Hackett has released a live performance video of “Fly on a Windshield,” featuring guest guitarist Steve Rothery of Marillion. The track, recorded during Hackett’s October 2024 concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, highlights a spectacular extended guitar exchange between the two progressive rock legends.
The video is a preview from The Lamb Stands Up Live at the Royal Albert Hall, a concert film and live album set for release on July 11, 2025. The performance commemorates the 50th anniversary of Genesis’s The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, with Hackett performing select tracks from the 1974 concept album, including “Fly on a Windshield” and “Lilywhite Lilith.”
In addition to Genesis-era material, the set features solo favorites and music from Hackett’s recent album The Circus and the Nightwhale. The lineup for this one-night event included guest appearances by Ray Wilson, Amanda Lehmann, John Hackett, and Steve Rothery.
Steve Hackett shared: “I’m excited about the upcoming Steve Hackett: Lamb Stands Up Live At The Royal Albert Hall release, and pleased to launch this live clip of Fly on a Windshield, one of my favorite moments on the album. I very much enjoyed creating my guitar contribution for this track, and on this release is also Steve Rothery’s fabulous contribution, as we exchange licks.”
