Whispers of Granite – Liquid Stone (Apollon Records, 2025)
Whispers of Granite is a new collaboration between Norwegian vocalist and composer Trude Eidtang and German keyboardist and producer Andreas Hack. Their debut album, Liquid Stone, weaves hooky folk-pop, cinematic arrangements, and progressive rock. Notably, the band’s sound is defined by Eidtang’s expressive and ethereal vocals and Hack’s spellbinding, immersive keyboards and soundscapes.
Eidtang first gained recognition as the lead singer of White Willow. She later founded When Mary, a project which explored art-pop, indie rock, and conceptual vocal work. Eidtang is known for her dynamic range and passionate performances. Indeed, she has become a prominent figure in Scandinavian progressive music.
Hack is best known as the founder of Frequency Drift, where he developed a signature sound combining cinematic music with progressive structures. His work also includes the ambient/post-rock project Feeling of Presence and the more recent Haven of Echoes. His compositions often mix organic and electronic elements.
The title Liquid Stone reflects the contrast between fluid transformation and emotional permanence.
