Patricia Brennan released “Aquarius” on September 12, 2025, via Pyroclastic Records, the second single from her forthcoming Of The Near And Far, arriving October 24, 2025.

The Mexican-born vibraphonist, marimbist, and composer earned broad recognition in 2024 with Breaking Stretch. The album topped the Francis Davis Jazz Poll, won Jazz Album of the Year and Vibraphonist of the Year in the DownBeat Critics Poll, and led El Intruso’s survey as Album and Musician of the Year. The Jazz Journalists Association named her Mallet Instrument Player of the Year in 2025.

The new project draws its organizing idea from the night sky. Brennan maps the circle of fifths onto constellations and scores the music for a jazz quintet, a string quartet, and an electronic musician. “Amidst the vast expanse of stars, there is a sense of balance and symmetry that fascinates me,” she says.

Career highlights include work with Yo-Yo Ma, the Philadelphia Orchestra, Wadada Leo Smith, the John Hollenbeck Large Ensemble, and Vijay Iyer. Her own releases have steadily expanded her profile beyond sidewoman appearances.

Live dates in support of Of The Near And Far include November 1, 2025, at the Berlin Jazz Festival and December 1, 2025, at Roulette in Brooklyn, New York.
