International Machine Consortium – Terraform (self-release, 2026)
Swedish progressive space rock band International Machine Consortium’s fourth recording is an EP titled Terraform. All four band members write the songs, which are deeply inspired by galactic travels, or intergalactic adventure rock, as they call it themselves. The first tracks on the album have the frenzied pace of Hawkwind. My favorite, however, is the extensive, spellbinding “Dunes of Proxima.” Here is where the band delves into slower-paced epic psychedelic progressive rock explorations with trippy guitars, flutes, and synths.
The Stockholm-based four-piece act was founded in 2021 with the goal to create an atmospheric sound. Terraform is a concept EP that continues the story from the previous recording, Proxima Centauri. With five songs the band narrates the story about the anxiety and hope in the struggle to make a new home on an earlier uninhabited planet.
