Nick Fletcher – An Unfolding of Miracles

Progressive rock and fusion guitarist Nick Fletcher released his sixth solo studio album, “An Unfolding of Miracles, (The Odyssey of an Empathetic Soul).” On October 12, 2026.

“An Unfolding of Miracles,” is described as a “sequel to his previous album, “The Mask of Sanity,” which continues the musical exploration inspired by the writings of Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung.”

This cinematic journey includes a blending of progressive rock, jazz-rock, and fusion music. And it is all layered with guitar synthesizer. Sounds great huh?

So, let’s jump in and discuss this latest adventure for Nick Fletcher.

“Song Of Acceptance (Thirty Years Earlier),” opens with rain and thunder. Then, soft acoustic guitar takes over the soundscape. Just beautiful sounds and guitar playing. Relaxing and great for any time of day. The continued rain in the background is also a nice touch, for all of us who enjoy rain, this time of year. Only a little over 2 minutes, but worth every second.

“To Be Seen, To Be Heard,” is more of the kind of fusion guitar playing Nick is well-known to compose and record. The added synthesized guitar sounds are also a nice addition to Nick’s soundscape. Proof, that Nick is expanding his music vocabulary and incorporating more stunning sounds into his compositions.

“Light Of Becoming,” opens with electric guitar chords, mixed well with that synthesizer sound which really adds to the effect of Nick’s music. Roberto Porta’s excellent drumming helps add beat and a pulse to the lower chord sound later in the song. The layering of the guitar sounds is magic on this album. The synthesizer almost sounds at times like a way to create an almost brass sound to the music. Nice touch.

“An Unfolding of Miracles,” opens with guitar and soft bass. The song and album follow the poem, “The Rebirth,” written by Samantha Turner. Her poem is an odyssey for the empathic soul, which Nick’s music brings to life. Dikajee adds her supreme vocalizations to this song, raising its spirit even higher.

“Unravelling of Illusions,” opens with some heavier guitar, similar to what I remember from some of Steve Hackett’s later solo albums. This one is more of a rocker, with some elaborate bass and electric guitar, challenging each other for space. Dikajee’s vocalizations are wonderful and add life and spirit to the composition. The best song on the album, so far. This song took me immediately back to the feeling of Steve’s, “Hackett to Pieces,” off “Highly Strung.” Which was a masterpiece. Roberto Porta’s drumming is spot on! You can really feel the blood pumping on this one…

“Only Now in Dreams – Part 1,” When I read that title, the first thing that came to mind was Roy Orbison. But this is no sad Roy Orbison song. The song does have a slow cadence to it with brilliant sounding electric guitar playing high notes. It is supported with waves of keyboard sounds which provide comforting sounds, with percussion support. A perfect song for lying back and dreaming.

“The Path of Fire,” opens with bold electric guitar and soft percussion before the drums kick in to start the rhythm and beat. Nick takes over from there with excellent chosen chords to build the song. His guitar playing climbs mountains of notes and sounds, taking the sound to another level. I hear some of that cool Steely Dan influence on this song, that I’ve heard on Nick’s other solo albums. The synthesizer effect adds significantly to Nick’s music.

“The Abscission Zone,” is a cool danceable song, with Nick playing harder guitar at first, and Roberto Porta‘s drumming filling in the space between chords. Together Nick and Roberto are a well-oiled machine now, bouncing off each other’s notes, beats, and inspirations. It is a pleasure to listen to this delicate guitar/drum interplay.

“Only Now in Dreams – Part 2,” is the album closer and it opens slowly with percussion, congas, slow guitar and a relaxed melody. The music that dreams are made to appreciate. A soft, slow guitar melody rises above the fog of the keyboards and slow percussion. You can almost feel the morning ocean mist rise off of this one. Dikajee’s vocalizations help calm this soundscape even more. Then, the thunder and rain return to close the album.

Nick Fletcher’s “An Unfolding of Miracles,” is just that, a wonderful continuation of the progress he laid down on his last album, “The Mask of Sanity.” I do hope he continues adding the synthesizer inspirations with his guitar playing. His collaborations with Dikajee and Roberto Porta are magnificent and will hopefully go on and continue to evolve.
