Canadian synthesist Serge Keravel brings back the magic of electronic music on Voltzwith a superb mix of beautifully constructed melodic and poly-rhythmic music. Voltz has echoes of mid-period Tangerine Dream, when they became more melodic and less spacey. It is also edgy and has a deeply emotional feel, with cinematic effects.
With most electronic artists going either in the ambient or dance music direction, it’s great to see an artist continuing the legacy of Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre and other fine electronic music composers.
Voltz is a splendid album that crisscrosses easily various energizing electronic music genres.
