Ozric Tentacles
Technicians of the Sacred (Madfish, 2015)
The grandmasters of psychedelic progressive rock are back with a fabulous double album titled Technicians of the Sacred. It’s cause for celebration especially when you consider that the band was severely affected by one of the wildfires in Colorado in 2012, losing their studio and archives.
Technicians of the Sacred is forward-looking psychedelia, fusing space rock jams, trippy electronics, trance beats, occasional shamanic vocals, and world music elements. Ozric Tentacles are experts at transitioning from the classic progressive rock lineup to purely electronic music.
Everything on Technicians of the Sacred is mesmerizing: the transfixing music, the state of the art recording and the stunning colorful artwork, inspired by Mayan mythology.
The lineup on this recording includes Ed Wynne on guitars, synthesizers, soundscapes and ethnic flavors; Brandi Wynne on bass; Silas Neptune on synthesizers, saz and soundscapes; Balazs Szende on drums; and Paul Hankin on percussion.
Technicians of the Sacred is a clear contender for best album of the year. A psychedelic music masterpiece.
