Jazz singer-songwriter presents her first album for Concord Records. Freedom & Surrender is a captivating recording by Wright where she delivers an outstanding mix of jazz, American folk, rock, blues, Gospel and ballads.
Highlights include engaging blues-rock piece “The New Game”; the breezy jazz-folk song “River Man”; and the best song on the album, the totally seductive “Here and Now” where Wright’s voice is joined by laid back electric guitar and two mesmerizing Fender Rhodes electric pianos. A truly delightful song.
Most of the material are original songs by Lizz Wright and bassist/producer Larry Klein.
The lineup on Freedom & Surrender includes Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, Dan Lutz on bass, Pete Korpula on percussion, Dean Parks and Jesse Harris on guitars; Kenny Banks, Pete Kuzma, and Billy Childs on keyboards.
