One of jazz rock’s finest acts, Indonesian band simakDialog is scheduled to perform at ProgDay 2013. This will be simakDialog’s first performance in the United States. The festival will take place on Saturday, August 31st, and Sunday, September 1st, at Storybook Farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Jakarta-based simakDialog began in 1993 and is to a certain degree a cult band in Indonesia. Propelled by the communication between keyboard maestro Riza Arshad and the brilliant Tohpati on guitar, simakDialog is a melting pot of western classical, jazz, and rock and exotic Indonesian rhythms and riffs.

The band’s discography includes Lukisan (1996), Baur (1999), Trance/Mission (2002), Patahan (2007) and Demi Masa (2009). SimakDialog’s first international release was the live album Patahan (MoonJune Records) followed by Demi Masa (MoonJune Records).

The current lineup includes Riza Arshad on keyboards, Tohpati on guitars, Adhithya Pratama on bass, and percussionists Endang Ramdan, Erlan Suwardana, and newest member, Cucu Kurnia.
