The Rome Pro(G)ject (TRP CDALB01, 2012)

The Rome Pro(G)ject is the title of a concept album featuring some of the most important names in the English and Italian progressive rock scene. These musicians celebrate the greatness and the beauty of Rome with original music. The project was conceived by Vincenzo Ricca.

The album contains a narrated introduction by Francesco Di Giacomo and 9 unreleased instrumental progressive rock pieces written by artists such as David Cross (King Crimson), Francesco Di Giacomo (Banco), John Hackett, Steve Hackett (Genesis), David Jackson (Van Der Graaf Generator), Nick Magnus, and Richard Sinclair (Caravan, Hatfield and the North, Camel).

This is not a cinematic soundtrack, but rather a collection of superb symphonic progressive rock compositions by renowned musicians. Imagine a cross between Banco, Genesis and Camel. A truly exquisite combination of instrumentals with outstanding guitar, keyboard, fretless bass and violin solos along with the always treasured mellotron work.

The list of musicians is truly impressive: Francesco Di Giacomo (Banco del Mutuo Soccorso) / narration; Vincenzo Ricca on keyboards; Paolo Ricca on electric guitar; Franck Carducci on electric bass, 12-string guitar; Luca Grosso on drums; David Cross (King Crimson) on electric and acoustic violin; Mauro Montobbio (Narrow Pass) on electric, acoustic and classical guitars, keyboards; Elisa Montaldo (Il Tempio delle Clessidre) on grand piano; Fabio Gremo (Il Tempio delle Clessidre) on electric bass; Paolo Tixi (Il Tempio delle Clessidre) on drums; John Hackett (Steve Hackett Band) on flute; Nick Magnus (Steve Hackett Band) on keyboards, virtual instruments; Steve Hackett (Genesis) on electric guitar; Danilo Chiarella on electric and fretless bass; Maurizio Mirabelli on drums; Richard Sinclair (Caravan, Camel, etc.) on fretless bass; Jerry Cutillo on flute; Giorgio Clementelli on acoustic guitar; and David Jackson (Van der Graaf Generator) on saxes, flutes and whistles.
