ProgDay 2020 Announces First Band, Stop Motion Orchestra

Progressive rock festival ProgDay has announced the first act set to perform at the 2020 edition of the festival, the Stop Motion Orchestra. ProgDay 2020 will take place on September 5 and 6, 2020, at Storybook Farm, near Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Stop Motion Orchestra is an Austin band formed in 2013 that is rooted in progressive and experimental music. The ensemble’s influences include Henry Cow, Cardiacs, Haniwa-Chan and Picchio Dal Pozzo along with traditional music from Eastern Europe and South Asia.

The group has two albums: Instant Everything! (2014) and Lightworks (2018).

The lioneup in 2018 included Alden Doyle on violin; Leila Henley on saxophones and vocals; Sam Arnold on bass, acoustic guitar and banjitar; Charlie Duncan on drums and percussion; Henna Chou on cello and keyboards; and Mohadev on guitars, synthesizers and piano.
