Polis – Weltklang (Progressive Promotion Records, 2020)
Polis is currently the leading German-language progressive rock band. This lends the band a welcomed authenticity, adding a flavorful German nuance in the lyrics and vocals.
Weltklang is the band’s third album. Polis likes to use vintage instruments, inspired by the great bands of the 1970s like Pink Floyd. At times, the group has a tendency to use hard rock guitars which makes it less palatable. Polis is at its best when they drop the hard rock and incorporate progressive, cinematic and psychedelic rock. The highlights are “Leben”, “Abendlied”, “Gebet”, “Steig Herab” and tribal “Mantra.”
The line-up includes: Christian Roscher on vocals; Christoph Kästner on guitar and backing vocals; Marius Leicht on keyboards and backing vocals; Andreas Sittig on bass; and Sascha Bormann on drums.
