Jazz Guitarist Hristo Vitchev has pubisheda new booktitled 10 Fragmented “5 Note Groupings” ii-V7-I Phrases. The melodic ii-V7-I phrases presented are built using various fragments of the “5 note groupings” melodic motifs presented in his “10 Tonal Exercises Volume 2 (melodic) – 5 Note Groupings” book. In this practice guide, readers can experience the diverse and harmonically rich sound that can be achieved using this simple concept as well as the interesting improvisational vocabulary that can be developed by incorporating into individual playing styles.
The ii-V7-I progression is presented in the key of C major. Hristo Vitchev extracted the 5 note groupings from the key of C (over the Dmin7 chord), the key of Ab melodic minor (over the G7alt chord) and the key of G (over the Cmaj7 chord).
