Electronic Music Artist Me, I’m Counting Unveils Debut EP ‘Macau’

North Carolina electronic music artist Me, I’m Counting has released his debut EP ‘Macau‘ (Moroderik Musik). The recording features a psychedelic mix of techno/electronica and krautrock crafted through hardware samplers and a set of analog synthesizersy.

Created in the early months of quarantine and after the birth of his second child, Williams says about “Macau”: “It made me hungry for something exotic and unfamiliar, and I found myself constructing a mental temple of past experiences – travel, clubbing, seeing and playing live music, drugs, relationships, existential fear, and spiritual joy. I wasn’t seeking the past, specifically, or engaging in some nostalgia death-trip. But I wanted to use those moments to create something out of the tension and uncertainty that had consumed my life – everyone’s life, really.”

Me, I’m Counting is the alias of Nick Williams, a synthesist from Durham, North Carolina. In 2008 Williams co-founded Durham’s club The Pinhook and immediately threw himself into the local music scene. He played in the post-punk group Free Electric State and psychedelic band Prisms before fully immersing himself in electronic music.
