Geof Whitely Project – “Valley of Foreboding”

Today, another new band to review. This time it’s Geof Whitely Project’s new album, Valley of the Foreboding. The album will be released in October of 2021. It is the project’s 16th album release; so, yes, can you say prolific.

So, with that many albums to their credit there must be a market for this music. And it is good progressive rock with excellent keyboards and great bass, drums and lead electric guitars. The album cover artwork is outstanding. Clear visions of what the recording artist was trying to communicate with their music.

How is the music, well good, for starters? Good, eerily haunting music, with slow progression and a Halloween theme to most of it. Dark and, well the album title tells you everything, “foreboding”.

Brooding music with some nice high keyboards and guitar chords, which lift the sound.

My favorite tracks were “Prophecy”, “House of My Promise”, and “Spirit of a Fool”. All the tracks were fine examples of progressive rock, with Steve Hackett-like guitar and warm keyboards. I understand now the reason they have made so many albums.

Pick up this album and listen to something new and different from the world of progressive rock.
