Jordsjø – Jord Sessions (Karisma Records, 2022)
The wonderful Norwegian progressive rock band Jordsjø released “Jord” in 2018. Even though Jordsjø had released some cassette albums earlier, the band regarded “Jord” as their first “proper” album. Jordsjø was never been happy about the original mix, done quickly with the intent of only a tape release, so they decided to give it a fresh mix from scratch, and include the other songs recorded duringt the same weekend in the summer of 2016.
The new incarnation of “Jord” is “Jord Sessions.” It includes a new organ track on ‘Abstraksjoner’ and some bells and percussion on ‘Valinors Lamper’, otherwise, all tracks remain as the original.
“Jord Sessions” is Jordsjø at its best once more, highlighting its remarkable combination of state of the art progressive rock with pastoral folk-rock influences.
The band includes of multiinstrumentalist Håkon Oftung (Tusmørke, Black Magic) and drummer Kristian Frøland.
