Ashley Davies – Gold

Ten Instrumentals to Illustrate the Lasseter paintings

Ashley Davies – Gold (2022)

Composer and multi-instrumentalist Ashley Davies has released his latest album, “Gold.” The recording features 10 tracks, each blending a 1960s guitar-driven sound with orchestrated rock instrumentals.

Ashley is supported by various musicians including violinists, cellists, and vocalists, and showcases his skills in drumming, percussion, keyboards, and guitar.

The 36-minute album pays homage to Ashley’s uncle Len, a World War II hero, and his paintings in “The Lasseter Series.” Available in black vinyl and digital download, “Gold” is not just background music, but an imaginative journey through beguiling rock instrumentals that fit various sonic settings. With 10 tracks, Ashley Davies invites listeners to the edge of sonic wonder.

Ashley intended to make a cinematic album: “I turned Len’s paintings and his story into a short film using the music from the album as the soundtrack, and have recently won 4 awards from film festivals in New York.” He adds: “I had been wanting to do an “up” record for a while. Something that would stimulate and inspire the listener in an emotional way much like the Lasseter paintings had made me feel, and so, with that in mind, I set out to write an album of ten instrumental pieces of music that would go with each of the Lasseter paintings.
