Anchor and Burden – Kosmonautik Pilgrimage (Moonjune, 2023)

Markus Reuter leads Anchor and Burden, a contemporary band that sets an example of improvised live studio recordings. In 2022, the band added Asaf Sirkis as the new drummer and recorded their album “Kosmonautik Pilgrimage.”

This Berlin-based group of skilled and highly creative musicians follow the path of King Crimson’s improvisational style. Their instrumental pieces are outstanding and are likely to endure. Their complexity and brilliance are truly astonishing, showcasing their mastery of progressive music, intertwining technical progressive rock, jazz and experimental music.

This album showcases the pinnacle of the band’s vision, which started in 1996 with Bernhard Wöstheinrich. Alexander Dowerk, a Touch Guitarist, joined the band, making it the first to feature two accomplished players of the instrument.

The album was mixed by Stefano Castagna and supported by Initiative Musik gGmbH with funding from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media. The creative process was captured on camera and will be available as promotional material and full video performances.
