German electronic music artist Volker Lankow has released a new album titled NYC Standstill Part 2.
Lankow explains: “This is the second Part of “NYC Stillstand”. Geoff Gersh’s field recordings are a reminder of what a virus can do. Geoff has created a documentary masterpiece with these field recordings.
“Never forget the standstill of huge cities, the cause for it and its terrible consequences, here representative for all other cities and places: New York City I have only tried to evoke moods with a few sounds. The main acts are the amazing field recordings by Geoff.
“There are more than 300 of these recordings, I have chosen only a few. I hope I could give an impression of the halt of activities in a city with millions of inhabitants, one consequence of an outbreak of a microscopic life form, which causes a lot of mayhem in the world. I do not speak only about Covid.”
