Luciano Basso – To Tell (AMS Records, 2023)
Venetian composer and progressive rock keyboardist Luciano Basso has released a captivating and delightful new album titled “To Tell.” The album features a fusion of neoclassical and progressive music, combining piano, violin, and flute in an emotionally sophisticated work that conveys a special message of peace.
To Tell is a musical journey that traces Basso’s evolution as a composer, from his early works to the present day. Each detail of the musical pieces serves as a narrative and a means of communication, with light, shadows, emotions and reflections woven into the complex contrapuntal writing. The album consists of 12 tracks, running for a total of 52:47 minutes.
Basso, a refined pianist, has meticulously crafted each note and melody to ensure that the final result is fully satisfactory. To Tell features Arturo Bertin on piano, Denis Garzotto on flute and Jacopo Pisani on violin.
One of the album’s standout creations is Suoni di Pace (Sounds of Peace), which Basso composed after visiting conflict zones in Mostar, Sarajevo, Palestine, and Israel. The piece, initially composed for piano and later developed for strings, conveys a message of peace that is dedicated to everyone, regardless of their background.
