Búho Ermitaño – Implosiones (Buh Records, 2023)
Implosiones is the second album by Búho Ermitaño, a Peruvian psychedelic progressive rock band. The musicians skillfully interweave elements of Krautrock and Andean folk, resulting in hypnotic instrumental explorations, delightful easy-going pieces, and bursts of cosmic rock. The band’s sound evolved over the years since its formation in 2008, and the current lineup includes various instruments like guitars, bass, drums, synthesizers, Theremin, flutes, and more.
The album features songs like “Herbie” with a strong percussion base and “Explosiones,” offering high-energy neopsychedelia. Unlike their first album, Implosiones includes vocals with lyrics, representing a new creative direction. The album also includes both classic tracks like “Buarabino,” a psychedelic folk piece, and new compositions like “Entre los cerros,” which ventures into space rock territory.
