In February 2022, pioneering British progressive rock Van Der Graaf Generator embarked on a long-anticipated UK tour, overcoming multiple reschedulings due to the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. The grand finale of this tour unfolded at The Forum in Bath on March 1st, a historic moment that was expertly captured by a dedicated film and recording crew.
The Bath Forum Concert stands as a landmark release, being the first live CD and film entirely under the band’s creative control. It brings to life the distinctive style of Peter Hammill, Hugh Banton, and Guy Evans. With Hammill’s captivating, charismatic, poetic and unique vocal style supported by fantastic organ and drum work, the band presents a sampling of its rich repertoire. They deliver classics like ‘Masks,’ ‘Childlike Faith In Childhood’s End,’ ‘La Rossa,’ ‘Man Erg,’ and ‘House With No Door.’ Additionally, the set list includes equally good newer compositions such as ‘Interference Patterns,’ ‘Every Bloody Emperor,’ ‘Go,’ ‘Alfa Berlina,’ and ‘Room 1210.’
