Gingerbass – Lake City Kid (self-release, 2023)
Talented bassist, educator, and composer Gingerbass (Ralf W. Garcia) has released an excellent instrumental EP titled Lake City Kid. Garcia is a German musician currently based in Ireland. Despite having a background in heavy metal, he takes a captivating departure from the metal genre in this recording. Notably, Lake City Kid is a compelling mix of sophisticated and elegant instrumental rock reminiscent of Eric Johnson’s style, interwoven with elements of progressive rock and jazz-rock fusion.
On Lake City Kid, Gingerbass demonstrates his creativity not only through bass lines, but also by skillfully handling keyboards. He collaborates with the skilled guitarist David O’Donovan, who delivers exceptional lead and rhythm guitar performances. The dynamic interplay between Gingerbass on bass and keyboards and O’Donovan on guitars adds an extra layer of attraction for the listener.
Envisioned as an homage to Garcia’s roots in the city of Konstanz by Lake Constance in Germany, Lake City Kid takes the listener on a journey through unique stories. Each track serves as a narrative, offering insights into Garcia’s personal experiences.
