The album Escapement features an impressive lineup of highly talented contemporary jazz musicians: bassist Henry “Le Skipper” Franklin (Black Jazz/Roy Ayers/Hugh Masekela), trumpeter/arranger Erik Jekabson, keyboardist Matt Clark, the percussionist/composer Gregory Howe, and drummer Mike Clark (Headhunters/Herbie Hancock).
For sure, Escapement is an engaging album of 12 original songs and orchestrations performed by an all around amazing ensemble. The band plays a remarkable mix of forward-thinking jazz, western classical music orchestrations and mesmerizing fusion elements. The highlights are the memorable, exquisite trumpet and electric piano performances, as well as the masterful arrangements.
