Peter Xifaras – Fusion (Music With No Expiration, 2023)
Peter Xifaras, an excellent guitarist, composer, and producer, has garnered widespread acclaim for his musical talents. Recently, Peter collaborated with innovative jazz-trumpeter Shunzo Ohno on Fusion, introducing another side of his musical interests.
Fusion presents seven original tracks, bringing to the fore Xifaras’ expertise on guitar and keyboards. The 31-minute, EP length album also features remarkable contributions by Xifaras’ superb guests: Shunzo Ohno on trumpet; Xander Nichting on violin; Max Gerl on bass; and Scott Jackson on drums and percussion; and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Marek Štilec.
The album’s overall vibe is dynamic, deeply engaging, and ferociously contemporary. Standout tracks like “Chaos,” “Shunzo,” and “Till We Meet Again” demonstrate the album’s compelling fusion of styles. Notably, “Wild and Free” and “While My Guitar Weeps for Mehdi Rajabian” highlight the ensemble’s collaboration with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.
Xifaras versatility is evident as he effortlessly navigates various musical genres, whether composing for symphonic orchestras or delivering captivating guitar solos. His music has resonated across numerous radio stations and enjoyed over a decade of rotation on SiriusXM, solidifying his undeniable effect in the industry. Peter has been honored with multiple awards, including crowning achievements on Billboard’s Classical and Crossover charts. Particularly noteworthy is his receipt of the American Prize and a TELLY award for his influential Classical social justice release, ‘Children Of Conflict’. Fusion marks a departure for Peter Xifaras from his recent orchestral compositions, diving enthusiastically into the intricate world of high energy jazz fusion.
Marked by their genre-defying nature, Peter’s compositions attract a diverse array of accomplished guest artists, often enriching his releases through collaborations on his symphoneX Orchestra® project. Additionally, he has orchestrated two classical works magnificently performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and is currently engaged in crafting a concerto for classical guitar.
