A parchment-toned background frames a silhouetted cat seated on a toy wagon, its interior filled with bright flora and small creatures. Delicate line drawings of birds and a floating jellyfish surround the figure.

Spellbinding Vibraphone Pieces by the Multifaceted Carolyn Trowbridge

Carolyn Trowbridge – Found Memories (Carolyn Trowbridge, 2026)

Carolyn Trowbridge, a superb vibraphonist, percussionist and composer, presents her impeccable and elegant debut album as a leader on Found Memories. This project is an evocative tribute to all the fundamental moments within her mind, from a spirited grackle attack to the winding staircase of her Czech childhood home.

Found Memories contains a delightful and conversational set of instrumental music guided by the mesmerizing sounds of the vibraphone. In Trowbridge’s hands, the vibraphone travels effortlessly between jazz, world music and exotica. Favorite tracks include the Ethio-jazz piece “Duchess of Sheba”; the expressive “Chopin’ Seance”; the dreamy, spellbinding dialogue of vibraphone and flute on “The Lonely Frost Flower”; the joyful “Tookey’s Engine”; and the funk and blues rooted “Onward.”

Carolyn Trowbridge is based in Austin, Texas. She has recorded, collaborated and performed with several well-known artists including Black Pumas, Adrian Quesada, Graham Reynolds, Alex Coke, Star Parks, Hard Proof, Mike Portnoy, and many more.

Aside from her projects and regular performance schedule, Trowbridge is an established music educator with 20+ years of experience teaching theory, composition and practical skills. She delivers masterclasses across the United States and abroad. In 2018, she co-directed the Walsh Middle School percussion ensemble, leading them to win the award of the International Percussion Ensemble Competition, where they performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. She is also an active member of Austin’s steel band community.
