Finnish bassist and composer Jukka Haavisto released his new single, “Echoes on the Path,” on August 21, 2026. The track will appear on his forthcoming album, Juniper Path (release date: October 16).
Haavisto’s melodic fretless bass leads the composition, while the Löyly Syndicate adds layered ensemble interplay and solo passages. Musically, the piece combines Finnish melancholy with fusion jazz harmony and an improvisational approach.
The composition takes inspiration from the memory of a moment that has begun to fade. Haavisto translates that idea into asymmetrical rhythms, bass harmonics, synthesizer bass lines, and shifting harmonic passages.
In addition, the synthesizer bass and rhythmic language on “Echoes on the Path” recall Weather Report, while the guitar chords and solo reflect the influence of Pat Metheny.
The single follows Haavisto’s debut album, Reflections (2022), and Live at Eclipse Jazz Club (2025). It also provides the first preview of Juniper Path, Haavisto’s next full-length release.
