Xavier Boscher, a French, metal/progressive instrumental artist, has returned with his latest album, Starseeds I, which was released on April 24th of this year. Not only is Xavier a musician, he is an artist/painter, and created all of his own album artwork for the release.
Boscher is a guitarist, keyboardist and bass player. He has composed and released many albums since 1999, within the progressive rock and metal genres, of his own. He has also created music for other projects, like Nebuleyes and Misanthrope, as well as other bands. Xavier has also toured in Europe with Septicflesh.
Xavier wanted 2023, to be the start of a new tetralogy; with a new concept album Starseeds I. Xavier explained “that for several months, he has been in full spiritual awakening”. “He has lifted a certain number of veils on life in matter and has, deep down inside him, the intimate conviction that his soul comes from elsewhere”. As he says, ”Maybe I’m a ”Starseed”, who knows?” In order to explore this possibility from the inside, he decided to devote a tetralogy to it, and Starseeds I is the first chapter of that ambition. On this new album, Xavier promises to: “Take you on a cosmic journey, from which your soul will not return unscathed”. Xavier Boscher, plays all instruments on the entire journey.
And what a wild journey it is! Spectacular soaring electric guitar, powerful drums, deep bass and exotic keyboards, at times. At times, very Joe Satriani, with its predominance of heavy electric lead guitar and bass. The keyboard sections are unique and very much appreciated.
My favorite tracks include: “Pleiadian”, “The Star of Fire”, which has a powerful electric guitar opening, and may be the hardest rock song on the album.
“Alpha Centaurian” has the coolest opening guitar riffs and the most explosive drums on the album.
“Lemurian” has one of the best guitar and drum combinations, working together as if two different people were playing each instrument simultaneously. It really is a spectacular opening!
“Sirusian” has the best keyboards on the album.
“Arcturian”, has a cool, quick pace.
“Andromedan”, also has a great keyboard opening.
The closer, “Indigo, Crystal and Rainbow”, is by far, my favorite with plenty of cosmic keyboards and stary sounds and feelings all over the music. This one, is a sit back, put on your headphones and dream of stars; kind of song. Absolutely magnificent, stirring compositions which allow you to dream of space.

Starseeds I, is a wonderful star trek, for all outer-space adventures to enjoy. Just relax, and have enough time to lay back and contemplate the future, when we might all have the pleasure and ability to travel through deep space. This album provides a metal/progressive emotion similar to what David Bowman said, so many years ago: “The thing’s hollow — it goes on forever — and — oh my God! — it’s full of stars!”
