Ambient music artist Forrest Fang presents an acoustic reinterpretation of David Bowie’s “Warszawa,” originally from Low, the first album in Bowie’s late-1970s Berlin Trilogy with Brian Eno. The arrangement highlights East–West influences and gradually introduces ambient elements.
This recording dates to 2012 and was prepared for a Projekt tribute to Bowie that was never released. Fang notes that Bowie’s piece drew in part from a Polish folk melody he encountered in Warsaw, making this version an interpretation of an interpretation.
Instrumentation: mandola, mandolin, baglama, cántaro (Spanish and Mexican clay pot), Tibetan bell, violin, synthesizer.
