Strangebird~Sounds – Minerals Form The Crust (2026)

Strangebird~Sounds, the recording project of electronic producer Gregory Geerts, has a 2026 release titled Minerals Form The Crust. The album centers on charming melodic electronic music and ambient techno ideas inspired by the Earth’s layers.

Geerts built the record with Eurorack modular synthesis, using hands-on patching and real-time control of voltage, tone, and rhythm to forge each piece. The approach emphasizes minute shifts in sound and pattern, with compositions designed to evolve as they move from sequence-driven passages to more atmospheric sections.

Three track descriptions shared with the release include:

“Azurite” — shimmering sequences and pulsing low-end lines intended to reflect crystalline forms.

“Calcite” — dense, slowly changing passages described as evoking volcanic scale through modular patching.

“Mesolite” — experimental rhythms paired with granular synthesis to suggest fractured mineral deposits.
