Stratosphere – Sphere I (Projekt, 2026)
Stratosphere’s Sphere I, is the project’s first release in two years. The 54-minute album features four extended compositions that explore ambient electronica, drone, and post-rock influences through electric guitar-based generated soundscapes.
Ronald Mariën (Stratosphere) constructs evolving layers from root-note foundations and shifting loop structures. Each piece gradually expands in density and depth, while melodic elements remain partially obscured beneath immersive walls of sound. At the same time, recurring melodies and subtle tonal variations emerge through repeated listens.
Sphere I reflects a revised creative approach for Stratosphere. Mariën relied primarily on live improvisation, with minimal editing and few additional overdubs. Subtle synthesizer accents complement the guitar-driven music and generate the project’s signature atmospheric sound.
