Aether – III (Aether Music, 2026)
III, the third album by Italian post-rock/progressive rock group Aether offers guitar-driven rock and keyboard virtuosity enriched with modern electronic enhancements. The album combines intense guitar work, expressive Fender Rhodes passages, engaging melodies, elegant fretless bass, and a sense of unfiltered vitality.
Aether is deeply influenced by progressive rock pioneers such as King Crimson as well as contemporary jazz elements. The opening track, “Oort Cloud,” begins as a reflective, atmospheric ballad before evolving into an intricate keyboard-centered rock piece with a classic progressive structure.
“Vogon” features distinctive vocals from Claudio Milano, alongside fiery guitar solos and memorable melodies.
“Cinq Teintes, Quatre Cadres” presents shifting rhythms and space-rock atmosphere.
“La Mélancolie Du Petit Prince” is a delicate piano-led composition that conveys wistfulness through subtle electronic accents.
“Panta Rei” delivers impressive ensemble interaction between piano, bass, guitar, and flute, combining jazz sophistication with rock vitality. Its style evokes the spirit of pioneering contemporary instrumental band Oregon.
The closing epic, “Swerve,” extends beyond ten minutes and emphasizes progressive rock keyboards, recalling the classic style of Yes.
