Somewhere between the crushing weight of the earth and the boundless mysteries of the human spirit, Italian experimental ensemble Bosco Sacro has discovered a fascinating new realm of musical expression. Their second studio album, Inhabit, is a profoundly immersive journey into the wilderness of existence, where identity dissolves, time loses its meaning, and rebirth emerges from the ruins of the familiar. Boldly departing from the path established by their debut, the band ventures into darker, more mysterious territory, creating an extraordinarily evocative work that feels like an ancient ceremony unfolding beneath an unfamiliar sky.

Bosco Sacro allowed the material to emerge organically during live sessions in their rehearsal room. The resulting eight interconnected pieces reveal an unmistakably human pulse, carrying the tension, intuition, and spontaneous revelations of four musicians moving together through uncharted territory. The album was subsequently recorded over seven days with producer Lorenzo Stecconi, whose previous collaborations include Amenra, Zu, Ufomammut, and Lento.

Musically, doom collides with the aching introspection of slowcore, while the ethereal allure of dreamgaze drifts through the hypnotic currents of ambient electronic music and trip-hop. The recording sessions took place at Daniele Onori’s AMM, Monteggiori Studio, nestled among the picturesque hills of Tuscany. There, far from the relentless machinery of everyday life, the musicians found an environment particularly suited to their introspective explorations. Stecconi subsequently mixed and mastered the album at Triple Sun in Rome.

The album’s philosophical vision extends well beyond the music itself. Its striking cover features Testa di Terra (Head of Earth), a raw clay sculpture by Italian artist Roberta Busato. The enigmatic face, eyes gently closed, appears suspended between meditation and eternal sleep, as though it were listening to the ancient memories concealed within the soil.

Bosco Sacro’s fascination with nature, spirituality, and the restorative power of music reaches back to the group’s formation in 2020. The ensemble brings together Paolo Monti of The Star Pillow and DAIMON, Giulia Parin Zecchin of Julinko, and Luca Scotti and Francesco Vara, both formerly of Tristan da Cunha. Vara is also active in Altaj. Together, these musicians have cultivated a deeply personal artistic language rooted in the belief that music can offer liberation, healing, and a renewed connection with the natural world.
