Franco Falsini founded Sensations’ Fix in the early 1970s. The trailblazing musician used a mini-moog and a Teac 4-track as the foundation of his home studio which he created in the United Sates in 1969 and later relocated to Italy. Sensations’ Fix features Falsini’s distinctive mix of ambient electronic music and soaring guitar. The first sessions appeared in 1974 as Sensations’ Fix s first official album, Fragments Of Light.
With two American ex-pats living in Italy, drummer Keith Edwards and bassist Richard Ursillo, Falsini took the music to a larger scale resulting in the multifaceted album Portable Madness. Other recordings followed, including Finest Finger and Falsini’s solo recording from 1975, Cold Nose. Many of these albums are today considered classics of 1970s progressive rock and space music.
Falsini and his colleagues left Italy in the 1970s and moved to California. In 1977, Sensations’ Fix released Vision’s Fugitive on an independent label and fulfilled their major label contract after that with Boxes Paradise.
Franco Falsini spent the next two decades between New York City and Paris, recording electro-pop (The Antennas) before returning to Florence to launch the Interactive Test dance music label.
In 2012, a new album titled Music is Painting in the Air came out on RVNG Intl. It’s a collection of new mixes and previously unreleased music from Sensations’ Fix’s prolific sessions between 1974 and 1977. Falsini and his son Jeyon spent a year restoring and revisiting the original Sensations’ Fix analog tapes. Honoring Falsini’s tradition of independence, this collection was mixed exclusively by Falsini.
The current version of Sensations’ Fix includes Franco Falsini, Candace Miller on synthesizers, Hajji Majer on drums and Louis Sherman on baritone guitar. Sherman is a producer at Your Village Studio in New York, and plays in the electronic group Locust. Majer has recorded and toured with 100 Acre Wood, Home, People, Engine, Alger Hiss and Mors Syphilitica, and has composed and recorded soundtracks for various films. For over eight years all three musicians have been playing together in the art rock band Fall of Another Year
Sensations’ Fix discography includes Fragments of Light (Polydor Records, 1974), Portable Madness (Polydor, 1974), Finest Finger (Polydor, 1976), Vision’s Fugitives (All Ears Records, 1977), Boxes Paradise (Polydor, 1977), Flying Tapes (Polydor, 1978), and Music is Painting in the Air (2012).
