Truth Decay, Exceptionally Good Keyboard Album

Adam Holzman – Truth Decay (Big Fun Productions, 2018)

Truth Decay is a fantastic album by musician and composer Adam Holzman, one of the finest keyboardists in the current progressive music scene. Holzman is the brilliant keyboardist that has performed and recorded with Steven Wilson in his recent progressive rock-leaning albums like The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories).

On Truth Decay, Holzman uses piano and a wide range of electronic keyboards, delivering spectacular solos and majestic digital mellotron orchestrations. The music straddles the line between fiery virtuosic jazz-rock fusion and captivating progressive symphonic rock. The majority of the tracks are instrumental plus two songs with vocals.

The band on Truth Decay includes superb musicians from the New York music scene together with British musicians from the Steven Wilson band.

The lineup includes Adam Holzman on acoustic and electric piano, synthesizers, drum programming, ring modulator, toy piano, sequencer, Moog bass and various other keyboards; Nick Beggs on vocals and Chapman Stick; Craig Blundell on drums; Theo Travis on soprano and tenor saxophone, flute and delays; Laurence Cottle on fretless bass; Fred Cash on bass; Abe Fogle on drums; Steven Wilson on guitar; Mark Egan on acoustic and electric bass; Jane Getter on guitar; Franz Hackl on trumpet and flugelhorn; Stefano Olivado on bass and harmonica; Davide Ragazzoni on drums; and Ofer Assaf on soprano and tenor saxophone.

Truth Decay is a masterfully-crafted album that brings the spotlight to the amazing world of progressive music keyboards.
