Soft Works – Abracadabra in Osaka (Moonjune, 2020)
The double album Abracadabra in Osaka, recorded in Japan in 2003 brought together some of the top British progressive fusion musicians. The tracks were meticulously restored and remastered by Mark Wingfield.
Soft Works included several members of legendary British progressive rock and jazz-rock band Soft Machine. This particular recording contains highly improvised music that will please fans of exploratory fusion with spectacular work by all musicians involved.
Abracadabra has historical significance. Three of the musicians passed away since the recording of the album.
The lineup included Elton Dean on saxello, alto sax, Fender Rhodes; Allan Holdsworth on electric guitar and Synthaxe; Hugh Hopper on electric bass; and John Marshall on drums.
