Cast – Vigesimus (Progressive Promotion Records, 2021)

Vigesimus is the 20th album from Cast, one of Mexico’s finest progressive rock bands. The group surfaced during the Neoprog era. Led by keyboardist and composer Alfonso Vidales, Cast performs excellent progressive symphonic rock with deep classical influences. The band’s current sound is characterized by the use of masterful piano, orchestral and rapid-fire keyboards, virtuosic guitar-hero licks and superb violin work.

Cast has matured well. It has become a formidable progressive rock band with admirable instrumentalists that build masterful orchestrations and deeply satisfying progressions. The vocal work, performed in English is quite good as well.

Current band members include Alfonso Vidales Moreno on keyboards; Claudio Cordero on guitar; Roberto Izzo on violin; Antonio Bringas on drums and percussion; Bobby Vidales on lead and backing vocals; Lupita Acuña on vocals and backing vocals; and Carlos Humarán on bass and backing vocals.
