Silhouette – The World Is Flat and Other Alternative Facts (Progress Records, 2017)

“The World Is Flat and Other Alternative Facts” is the 2017 album from Dutch progressive rock band Silhouette. The group is one of the finest acts within this genre in The Netherlands and plays a deeply satisfying form of progressive rock that is reminiscent of some of the great international progrock bands like IQ, Pendragon, Big Big Train, and Spock’s Beard.

The veteran group presents a wonderful set of pieces where you will find beautiful vocals and harmonies; excellent instrumental musicianship and well-constructed pieces with memorable melodies and epic moments.

Personnel: Brian de Graeve on lead and backing vocals, 12-string guitar; Daniel van der Weijde on electric and acoustic guitars; Erik Laan on keyboards, bass pedals, lead and backing vocals; Jurjen Bergsma on bass, acoustic guitar, backing vocals; and Rob van Nieuwenhuijzen on drums, percussion.

Guests: Joke Laan Morsch on soprano vocals; MarYo on backing vocals; Chantal van den Dungen on flute; Petruschka Schaafsma on oboe; Ger Otten on French horn; Sophie Zaaijer on violin.
