Alain Genty – Instant Space (self-release, 2019)
Alain Genty, a multi-talented French composer and musician, invites us to fully immerse ourselves in his musical creation, “Instant Space.” He presents it as a poetic and esoteric haiku: “The space of a moment, to be fully present. A yellow oriole and a black cat. The Whole and the Detail.”
The album creates a meditative atmosphere that encompasses the beauty of Scotland’s seas and Japan’s mountains. Although Genty is known for numerous collaborations with Celtic musicians from Brittany, on this occasion, he explores various other genres. The pieces range from elegant chamber jazz and avant-garde explorations to a dash of world music and beautiful contemporary instrumental pieces that may appeal to new age music fans.
