Edenya - Clélia Lenoble

Edenya – Clélia Lenoble – Edenya “Another Place” Interview

PRC – Welcome, Clélia Lenoble, lead singer of Edenya to ProgressiveRockCentral.com!

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to discuss your latest album, Another Place, with us.

PRC – Please describe how Edenya began, emerged and evolved.

Clélia Lenoble  – Edenya was founded in 2010 by Marco,author-composer and guitarist-keyboardist. Primarily it was an instrumental project.

In 2013, Edenya integrates voices with the collaboration of the Cameroonian singer Ida Rose. The group then released in 2017 its first self-titled EP.

After nearly four years of collaboration, Ida Rose leaves the group and Edenya integrates two new vocalists: Elena and Rémi.

Edenya then released its first album “Silence” in 2020, which was acclaimed by critics all over the world.

Edenya separates from its two vocalists and integrates Clélia Lenoble. We released our second album “Another Place” on January 13, 2023.

PRC – Please tell us about your influences. Who are your favorite bands?

Clélia Lenoble  – For my part as a singer, I have often been told that I have something of Joan Baez in my voice, and I must say that I have listened to her a lot, and I really appreciate her! I also sang a lot of Norah Jones or Edith Piaf when I was younger. I am a fan of Lisa Gerrard, singer of Dead Can Dance, Thom Yorke singer of Radiohead and Anneke Van Giersbergen. I also have lyrical influences as I am a soprano chorister and enjoy singing classical music.

Marco’s influences are multiple: The Gathering, Anathema, Pink Floyd, Dead Can Dance, Radiohead, Nightwish, and more….

PRC – Will you tour for Another Place?

Clélia Lenoble  – For the moment, the opportunity has not presented itself, but we would love to.

PRC – Do you have a slate of shows/festivals scheduled for the new year, that you would like to share?

Clélia Lenoble –  We are preparing a concert on May 21(first), at the Peniche Antipode in Paris. For the moment it’s our only and first date. The others are in the process of being set. We only plan to play in France at the beginning.

PRC – If you had to choose from two or three favorite songs off Another Place, that you would like to discuss the origins or inspiration for, what would they be?

Clélia Lenoble – Another Place talks about the afterlife. It’s a dying person talking to someone very close, explaining that everything is going to be okay even though life is hard. That she/he sees him/her from the afterlife and that he/she has to let go.

“Inside your Walls”, talks about betrayal, someone who left you and doesn’t fulfill his obligations. It’s a dialogue between two people.

I think that everyone can make his own interpretation in each piece of Edenya

PRC – Will there be any solo or new projects evolving from the release of this new album?

Clélia Lenoble –  No, this is not in the news at the moment.

PRC – If you had all the money in the world and could write a concept album, for which concept or subject, would you most enjoy writing music?

Clélia Lenoble –  I think an album about love, I know it sounds stupid but I am sure that it speaks and touches everyone: Love deceptions, encounters that leave a lasting impression, odes to nature, and to animals …

PRC – If you could collaborate with any band or artist, who would you choose?

Clélia Lenoble –  Thom Yorke from Radiohead, one of my favorite bands or Simrit, I am very touched by his voice, that heals everything.

PRC -Which albums would you choose as your favorites of all time?

Clélia Lenoble – I must say “A Moon Shaped Pool” from Radiohead or “How to Measure a Planet” from The Gathering.

PRC – What is your favorite song of all time?

Clélia Lenoble – “Bohemian Rapsody”, from Queen. I’m a big fan of Queen.

PRC – Are you working on the next album?

Clélia Lenoble – Yes, we are starting to test some tracks, the album will be quite different from Another Place.

PRC – When will your next album be released?

Clélia Lenoble – We would like to start in 2025.
