Pink Floyd and Warner Music have announced the upcoming release of the newly remastered The Dark Side Of The Moon album. This iconic album, initially released in 1973, has garnered immense influence and admiration over the years. The stand-alone release on CD, LP, and Blu-ray is set for October 13th, 2023. Notably, this marks the first instance of the new remaster being available on its own, having been previously included in The Dark Side Of The Moon 50th Anniversary Boxed Set.
The Blu-ray edition is particularly noteworthy, featuring a Dolby Atmos and a 5.1 Surround mix, in addition to the remastered Stereo version. Accompanying the audio enhancements are exclusive inclusions such as commemorative postcards, stickers, and a 24-page booklet, enhancing the overall experience for fans and collectors alike.
Designed by Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis and drawn by George Hardie, the album’s famed prism spectrum sleeve has remained an enduring visual emblem. The Dark Side Of The Moon has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.
In a nod to the 50th Anniversary celebration, Pink Floyd has opened doors for a new generation of animators. A competition has been launched, inviting animators to create music videos for any of the album’s 10 songs. This initiative follows the band’s historical collaboration with animators since their inception, a tradition that has often resulted in visuals that seamlessly intertwine with the music’s essence.
