Australian progressive rock band Southern Empire is currently working on its third album, scheduled for release in the first half of 2022.
Composer, keyboardist and bandleader Sean Timms says: “Southern Empire are currently putting the finishing touches on their third album entitled Another World. It encapsulates everything the planet has endured over the past 18 months… from wallowing in the depths of despair to overcoming the greatest of obstacles. It looks within and without, realizing how infinitesimally small we are, yet having an immense strength of spirit that transcends our circumstances and elevates us to the pinnacle of our existence.”
The new album will consist of 7 songs ranging from just over 4 minutes to the 20 minute epic ‘White Shadows’.
Previous recordings include Southern Empire (Giant Electric Pea, 2016) and Civilisation (Giant Electric Pea, 2018).

Can’t wait, i hope we in Germany get a chance to buy it on vinyl without using a high pitched Importprice and terrible shipping and custom costs. 70-80 Dollars for a Record is to much.

Southern Empire has become one of my favorite bands. Civilisation is one of the best prog albums I’ve ever heard. The description of the album worries me a tad, about it encapsulating “everything the planet has endured over the past 18 months…” Covid themed albums are super trite. So I hope the lyrics are a bit more abstract.
Looking forward to hearing SE’s new album. Definitely one of my favourite prog rock bands so far. Hope they do a world tour in the future!

Just found this band and it’s on frequent rotation. Out of 14.300 songs on my iPods that’s saying something. Fantastic music and beyond doubt a truly great Prog band! CAN’T WAIT FOR THE 4TH ALBUM!

Hi guys, I saw you in Southampton in 2019 or was it 2018? You guys were absolutely stunning, I’ve seen a lot of bands in 45 years of gigs and it still stands out as on of my favourite gigs. You even had guys from Galahad and Big Big Train in the audience and you were immense. Just some news about the album is all I need presently. How’s it coming on?
